Associations Designations

Hi, I’m Chuck Miller and I’d like to take a few minutes to share with you how and why I became a Business Coach and Mentor.

I wasn’t always a Coach and Mentor. Until 2016, I was a small volume design-build custom home builder and remodeler.  So I understand the challenges of running a small construction company. While it can be rewarding, it can also be frustrating.  But I gained a lot of valuable experience. I learned what to do and what not to do. And I learned how to do better those things that need to be done.

In my 56+ years in the construction industry, I experienced the rewards of running a small construction company. However, I also experienced the difficulty of balancing my work and my personal life. I took advantage of the education available through my membership in the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). I considered this education so valuable that I became and instructor of NAHB courses.

During my career, I also  benefited from the guidance, advice, feedback and support  of a number of mentors. Several were fellow members of NAHB. Others were authors and motivational speakers. One of those mentors was Zig Ziglar. In fact, one of his quotes became my guiding principle:

“You can have everything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want out of life.”

I believe as Theodore Roosevelt did.

In the last 25 years, I also watched a number of my fellow Builders and Remodelers fail. In fact, small construction companies have the second highest failure rate of any industry in the United States. I believe the primary reason for the high failure rate is that they don’t have written working business plans. A survey of the members of the National Association of Home Builders found that only 12 percent had written business plans. For that reason, I wrote my book “Plan To Profit: Business Planning For Builders and Remodelers”  and started Chuck Miller Consulting,

I recognize the value of mentorship.  In addition to being your business coach, I will also be your mentor providing the guidance, advice, and resources to help you thrive in your business and personal life. As your mentor, I will also be your accountability partner – checking in with you regularly providing feedback and helping you stay on track and achieve your goals.
